Certified Health Executive Program
Since its inception in 1984, the Certified Health Executive (CHE™) program has attracted many of the country’s top health leaders. In fact, nearly half of College members have achieved certification.
The development of this capabilities-based program was a collaborative effort involving College members from across the country as well board members and staff. Given the constant changes within the Canadian health system, all elements of the CHE Program are regularly reviewed and revised by the CHE Program Committee and the Professional Standard Council. In 2013, the CHE Program was revised to align with the LEADS in a Caring Environment Capabilities Framework.
Certified members of the College retain the designation for as long as they continue to be members in good standing and meet the Maintenance of Certification conditions. When membership is discontinued, the designation is revoked.

At its 47th Annual General Meeting held in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador on June 3, 2018, the Canadian College of Health Leaders proudly recognized 122 members who received the Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation and three members who received the Fellowship designation.
The Professional Standards Council and the LEADS in Action Project Awards Committee are proud to announce two CHE members conferred in 2017 received the LEADS in Action Project Award in 2018.

The CHE LEADS in Action Project Awards give recognition to high quality projects submitted as a component of the CHE Certification Program. These projects demonstrate comprehensiveness, critical thinking and strategic problem solving skills. Candidates also identify the implications of the issue for leadership in their organization or for the broader health care system.
The project is tied to four LEADS domains and twenty capabilities: Engage Others, Achieve Results, Develop Coalitions and System Transformation. These must be evident in an excellent project. The project is also intended to give candidates the opportunity to contribute knowledge by sharing their experiences, learnings, issue analysis and recommendations.
